To him marriage is a business deal. He wants to marry Natalya for certain reasons. Physically he is feeble and suffers from palpitations. He has an urge to present his status, his fondness for dogs and lands in front of people's eyes. So, he does not leave a single inch land at the time of debate. Being critical he criticises Natalya's family. He is down to earth though ambitious. To conclude, we can say Lomov takes the Proposal to its destination by marrying Natalya and brands the play a fantastic one.
